Heading on vacation? Summer or not, these books are some of the best traveling companions I’ve found in 2019!
Whether I was reading by the campfire or on the beach, Pachinko took me to Japan where I followed a Korean immigrant family struggle for success. Thoroughly enjoyable and engaging!
Following teenagers flying around in space fighting crazy alien plants can’t be bad, right?
Although a little slow to start, give this immersive fantasy a chance! You don’t read a book about djinn all that often and Chakraborty’s take is really good!
Needing a warm political hug? Read this book! After being inundated with negative news, sometimes it’s nice to read a book with a more uplifting and hopeful perspective.
#1 - It's a tie!!!
Rules of Redemption & Dance of Thieves
And my top book of the summer…how do you choose between two books that are so good? Well, you don’t. Rules of Redemption by T.A. White and Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson are just such good, fun, can’t-put-them-down, reads!
Rules of Redemption is definitely a guilty pleasure and what a pleasure it was. A strong heroine, a side of romance, and fighting in outer space…what more can you ask for?! Dance of Thieves is also so enjoyable! The author of the Remnant Chronicles introduces a duology in the same universe as the Remnant Chronicles but with new characters to follow. This young adult novel has a kickass heroine and the perfect balance of action and romance. Enjoy these two fun reads to keep that summer attitude going!
