The Crowns of Nyaxia Delivered!

4.5/5

Let me start with: Fanning GIFs | Tenor

Ok, this series was steamy with a capital “S” but it was also just a really solid vampire tale. If you don’t mind a bit of blood and guts thrown around and can get down with some vampires, then this book is 100% for you.

The Gist

There are two main books in this series (with a small novella in between that was only so-so to me): The Serpent and the Wings of Night and The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King by Carissa Broadbent. Both were fantastic and provided some much needed vampiric entertainment.

The books follow Oraya, the adopted human daughter to the dauntless Nightborn Vampire King, and Raihn, a fellow competitor in the ruthless Kejari (think Hunger Games with vampires). With twists, turns, and betrayals from every person Oraya trusts, this series will give you all the angst and romance one reader needs.

Beware: These books do get pretty dark. There’s some patricide (kind of), murder, attempted sexual assault, and vivid battle scenes.

But that’s what makes The Crowns of Nyaxia such a solid vampire romance series. It was actually really good without the steamy relationship and that’s how you know it’s worth reading.

“Eviction’s fallout is severe. Losing a home sends families to shelters, abandoned houses, and the street. It invites depression and illness, compels families to move into degrading housing in dangerous neighborhoods, uproots communities, and harms children. Eviction reveals people’s vulnerability and desperation, as well as their ingenuity and guts.” – Evicted by Matthew Desmond
