It’s getting close to that time of year…SUMMER! Unless you’re in Texas in which case summer started a month ago. But I digress. Summer is almost here and I’m just about ready to randomly break into song and lay around naked on the beach like our favorite snowman.
Alas, quarantine puts a bit of a damper on my nudist days so I’ll have to settle for books. Lots and lots of books. In preparation, I’ve come up with a list of the most anticipated books of summer. If you’re looking for more book releases, be sure to check out our release calendar!
All Adults Here by Emma Straub – May 5
All Adults Here follows the story of a mom, her three grown kids, and the potential effect parenting mistakes have on children. With humor and lightheartedness, Straub takes on adult children, family, and all the things that unwittingly follow us into adulthood.
Beach Read by Emily Henry – May 19
Two authors move into adjacent beach houses with the same ongoing problem – writer’s block. In the hopes of creating the next best novel, the authors trade writing assignments and end up creating a connection they can’t ignore. A true summer read!
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins – May 19
A prequel to the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins keeps to the same universe with this book that takes place 64 years before the existence of Katniss Everdeen.
Life of a Klansman by Edward Ball – June 2
Have you ever looked deep into your family’s history and found anything deeply shameful and then shared it with the world? No? Edward Ball does just that by telling the story of his great-great grandfather, Constant Lecorgne, a white Creole carpenter and family man by day and a militant member of the Ku Klux Klan by night.
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennet – June 2
Brit Bennet offers a captivating look at twin sisters and the two diverging paths they take in their lives – one winding up right back in the small, southern black community she grew up in, and the other secretly passing for white with a husband who knows nothing of her past.
Devolution by Max Brooks – June 16
Maybe not a zombie apocalypse ala World War Z, but Max Brooks takes a stab at a new type of survival book dealing with volcanoes, massacres, and BIGFOOT!
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – June 30
A reimagining of the classic gothic book, Mexican Gothic tells the tale of a young woman lured to the dreaded High House, a mysterious mansion deep in the Mexican countryside. Get ready for some serious suspense.
The Shadows by Alex North – July 7
